DV 2009 visa lottery was conducted by the U.S State Department to issue 50,000 immigrant visas for the fiscal year 2009. The online applications were accepted in the year 2007 and the results were sent to the winners who are randomly selected by the computers at the KCC from the month of May 2008 till the end of the month June 2008 through the regular postal mail. From 1st of October 2008 those people who had applied for the immigrant visas were called for the interviews at the consular offices. Those selected winners in the USA were instructed to contact the USCIS office to change their current status to LPR status. On 30th September 2009 the DV 2009 program was officially closed. After this date no one can benefit from the winning of the DV 2009 lottery. They may try the forth coming USA visa lotteries.

In the DV2009 Green card lottery nearly 9.1 million qualified entries were submitted for the DV 2009 green card lottery and 99,600 persons were selected as winners and informed to apply for the available 50,000 visas.
